Slavery was what made America, and without slavery, America wouldn't be what it is today. Slavery was usually present in British and American colonies, and were usually africans that were slaved. About 12 million africans were shipped to America as slaves, and two to three million died on the way.
Slave conditions couldn't have got worse. There were no breaks during work, they only had breakfast and dinner. Slaves were tortured almost every day, for making even the slightest mistake or not working. This caused many slaves to want to rebel. The masters tried to make them lose hope by splitting up their families and selling their children, and even tried to forbid the revolts using laws. Although the slave masters tried, slave revolts were unavoidable. These slave revolts gave the slaves the idea of freedom, liberty, and rebellions. |
